Do you help to look after a member of your family, who is ill or disabled, or who uses drugs or alcohol?
Do you take on responsibility for things that would normally be done by an adult?
If you answered yes to these questions then you are a young carer.
You might look after you mum or dad, a brother or sister, or someone else in your family. Maybe you have to cook meals, go shopping or make sure someone takes their medicine. Or you might be giving emotional support to the person you help.
The person you look after might have a physical disability, mental health problems, a long term illness or might misuse drugs or alcohol.
Whatever your role, we can help to make sure it doesn’t stop you having a life of your own.
