Youth Manifesto Launch 2015
Young carers were excited to be at the launch of the Youth Manifesto on Saturday 16th October when for the first time, young carers had their own priorities and their own section of the Manifesto. 71 young carers told their story of the impact of being a young carer and what support would help the most.
You can read the full report here: https://www.youthconnexions-hertfordshire.org/media/703970/Herts-1125-Manifesto-2015-YoungCarers.pdf
In short young carers said they wanted:
- A named worker in every school
- More awareness and understanding of young carers and the challenges they face
- A local place to meet other young carers
The Young Carers Council will continue to press for these changes. If you are a young carer and would like to be involved in deciding the priorities for next year’s manifesto please get in touch via:

Calling all Young Carers – make your voices heard…
We are working with Herts 1125 to produce a specific section of the Hertfordshire Young Peoples Manifesto about Young Carers. The top two priorities for young carers are:
1. Supporting Young Carers in School: How this can be done considerately, the need for young carers to access support and information in schools.

2. Local Young Carer support groups: What is the need for local support groups, what are the benefits to young carers and what would they like available.
